The wear of the slurry pump's flow components can lead to reduced operational quality, affect work efficiency, increase maintenance time, and result in performance decline. This article lists the possible causes of wear in the slurry pump's flow components.

Main factors of wear of slurry pump flow parts
The main factors for the wear of slurry pump flow components include slurry concentration and flow rate, slurry properties, cavitation phenomena, corrosion, fatigue wear, and solid phase welding effects.
1. Slurry concentration and flow rate: The concentration of the slurry and the speed of flow directly affect the wear degree of the slurry pump flow components. As the slurry concentration decreases, the scouring effect of solid particles weakens, thus increasing the service life of the flow components. On the other hand, an increase in slurry flow rate accelerates the wear of flow components because the number of impacts of solid particles on the material surface increases per unit time.
2. Slurry properties: The properties of the slurry, such as the density, shape, hardness, and particle size of solid particles, play an important role in wear. Particles with high density mostly move outward in the flow path of the centrifugal pump impeller and continuously move close to the working surface of the blades, causing significant wear on the blade working surface. Additionally, the pH value of the slurry can also affect wear, as the interaction between corrosion and erosion wear can exacerbate material loss.
3. Cavitation phenomena: During the operation of the pump, when the liquid pressure drops to the vaporization pressure, the liquid vaporizes to form bubbles. These bubbles, while flowing with the liquid, impact the metal surface, leading to material fatigue and spalling. In severe cases, the metal surface presents a honeycomb structure, which is the wear effect of cavitation phenomena on the slurry pump flow components.
4. Corrosion: When the medium being transported has a certain level of acidity or alkalinity, the slurry pump flow components can also experience corrosive wear, which is the phenomenon of material loss due to the combined effects of corrosion and wear.
5. Fatigue wear: Fatigue wear caused by cyclic alternating stress is also one of the reasons for the wear of slurry pump impellers.
