Functions and Types of Impellers

The impeller's function is to directly transfer the mechanical energy of the prime mover to the liquid, increasing the liquid's static pressure energy and kinetic energy (mainly increasing static pressure energy). Worman slurry pump impellers are mainly made of high-chromium alloy materials, natural rubber, A49 material, polyurethane material, Cr30 material, etc. The main pumps include AH series slurry pumps, G-type gravel pumps, and AHR rubber slurry pump impellers.

Woma slurry pump impellers include closed impellers, semi-open impellers, and open impellers.

1. Closed impeller: Composed of blades and front and rear cover plates. Closed impellers have higher efficiency and are more difficult to manufacture. They are most widely used in centrifugal pumps. Suitable for conveying clean liquids with low viscosity and no particles, such as clean water and solutions.

2. Semi-open impeller: Generally has two structures. The first is a semi-open type, composed of a rear cover plate and blades. This structure has lower impeller efficiency; to improve efficiency, an adjustable gap sealing ring must be used. The other is a rear semi-open type, composed of a front cover plate and blades. Because the same sealing ring as the closed water pump impeller can be used, the efficiency is basically the same as that of the closed impeller, and the blades, in addition to conveying liquid, also have a sealing function of back blades or auxiliary impellers. Semi-open impellers are suitable for conveying liquids containing suspended solids, fibers, etc. Semi-open impellers are easier to manufacture, lower in cost, and more adaptable. In recent years, their application in centrifugal pumps used in petroleum and chemical industries has gradually increased, and they are also used to convey clean water and liquids similar to clean water.

3. Open impeller: An impeller with only blades and blade stiffeners, without front and rear cover plates. Open impellers have fewer blades (2-5 blades). The efficiency of water pump impellers is low, and their application is limited, mainly used for conveying liquids with higher viscosity and slurry-like liquids.
