Slurry pumps are mainly used to transport abrasive or corrosive slurries. The particularity of their application fields determines that slurry pumps are centrifugal pumps that are prone to wear and tear.Mistakes in any aspect of the slurry pump production process will have a serious impact on the life of the slurry pump. The slurry pump production process can be divided into four steps: casting, heat treatment, machining, and assembly.

Slurry Pump Production Process

Slurry pumps are mainly used to transport abrasive or corrosive slurries. The slurry pump production process can be divided into four steps: casting, heat treatment, machining, and assembly.

Casting
Slurry pump casting is the first step in the slurry pump production process and is the basic process that determines the quality of the slurry pump.

1. Determination of casting raw materials. The main raw materials are: scrap iron, low carbon ferrochrome, high carbon ferrochrome, nickel plate, copper, manganese, vanadium, etc.

2. Modeling: Making a casting model according to the model to be produced is called modeling. The modeling process requires smooth surface, accurate size, and clean inside the mold.

3. Smelting: Put the raw materials into the furnace according to a certain ratio and melt them into liquid metal alloy in the high-temperature electric furnace.

4. Composition inspection: During the smelting process, pre-furnace testing, in-furnace testing and post-furnace testing are required. The main purpose is to detect and debug the content of each metal in the metal alloy to meet the quality standard range.

There are two inspection methods: one is chemical reagent inspection; the other is spectroscopic instrument inspection. The chemical reagent test takes a long time. Due to the high activity of metal elements and continuous volatilization during the high-temperature smelting process, and the large human operation error, the accuracy will decrease. The spectrometer test has high technological content and takes a short time. It can monitor the metal content in real time and requires manual operation. There are basically no errors and the accuracy is very high.

5. Pouring: The metal alloy is completely liquid, and the metal content reaches the standard ratio. The liquid alloy is poured into the built model. This process is called casting. Casting requires accurate control of the temperature of the liquid metal alloy, otherwise it will affect the crystallization process of the alloy elements, thereby affecting the hardness and toughness of the blank.

6. After the casting is completed, most of the casting process will come to an end. Wait for the temperature of the casting parts to drop, solidify and form, and remove the molding sand.

heat treatment
Heat treatment is to heat cast parts. Commonly known as normalizing (hardening) and annealing (softening) in the slurry pump industry. The main function is to change the alloy structure to achieve a high wear-resistant state, and secondly to adjust the hardness of the parts to facilitate processing.

1. Heat treatment preparation

Use a grinding wheel to polish the blank and clean the surface of the blank parts to make them smooth.

Through the sand cleaning machine, the residual sand on the surface of Qinglu rough parts makes the appearance tidy.

2. The heat treatment of slurry pump is divided into two types: normalizing and annealing. The specific operations are as follows:

① Anneal the blank before processing to soften it and make it easier to process with a lathe

② Carry out rough machining after returning the goods, leaving a finishing allowance.

③Normalize to harden and meet usage requirements

④After normalizing, finish processing to reach the required size.

Note: All accessories must undergo two heat treatments as required. Reducing the number of heat treatments cannot affect product quality because of cost savings. Our company strictly implements the slurry pump production process to ensure product quality.

Machining
Use vertical lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, boring machines, drilling machines and other machinery to process slurry pump accessories

1. Preparation work for machining

Check whether it has been heat treated

Are there any obvious product defects?

Are there any defects that are not suitable for processing?

2. During the processing, strictly follow the operating procedures and measure the processing dimensions in real time to prevent processing deviations or over-processing.

3. After the processing is completed, it will be handed over to professional quality inspection engineers for dimensional inspection to confirm that it is stored correctly.

Slurry pump assembly
It is the process of installing all slurry pump accessories into pumps according to parameter requirements and installation dimensions.

1. Preparation

Check whether assembly tools are complete

Check whether the slurry pump accessories are complete

Check the accessories used for defects

2. Install according to the installation dimensions of each component of the slurry pump.

3. After assembly, inspect the entire machine to see if the installation is firm.

4. Spray paint and let dry

5. Test the pressure of the slurry pump and check for leaks

6. Complete the installation
