What Problems are Prone to Occur When the Slurry Pump is not Used Properly

The slurry pump is a commonly used equipment in the process of mineral processing, and slurry transportation is the main application scenario of the slurry pump, and improper use is a common problem encountered in the application of the slurry pump. Improper use of slurry pumps can affect normal operation and their production capacity.

1. The cooler pipe wall of the slurry pump will scale on the surface after the slurry pump has been running for a long time, resulting in poor heat transfer; Low cooling water or no cooling water. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly check whether the pressure and flow rate of the bearing cooling water are appropriate. Generally, the cooling water pressure of the slurry pump is 0.05~0.2MPa, and the cooling water flow is 1~3m³/h, replace the dirt cooler in time, turn on the cooling water before starting the pump, adjust the pressure to the specified value, and regularly check the bearing temperature rise (35 °C), and the high temperature shall not exceed 75 °C.

2. During the use of the slurry pump, the seal fails due to the wear of the packing, and the mud leaks along the shaft seal. The mud instantly fills the curved surface of the semicircular positioning hole connecting the bracket and the rear pump casing, and the mud discharged from the discharge port does not have time to penetrate into the oil pool through the seal at the baffle, causing damage to the bearing. In routine maintenance, attention should be paid to regularly detecting the leakage of shaft seal water. When the leakage increases, the bolts of the packing gland should be adjusted, and the packing and the failed O-ring should be replaced in time to prevent the leaking slurry from seeping from the baffle seal along the shaft into the bracket oil pool.

3. The unclean lubricating oil will cause problems such as increased friction, wear, temperature increase, and vibration of the bearing. All parts of the bearing can be lubricated to reduce friction and wear. Regularly check the quality of the lubricating oil to avoid getting into the dust or the oil aging and deterioration. The lubricating oil should be adjusted in strict accordance with the operating instructions of the pump, not too much or too little. If there is too much oil, most of the frictional heat inside the bearing cannot be taken away, and the heat cannot be effectively dissipated, which increases the temperature rise of the bearing; If the amount of oil is small, it will cause the bearing oil film to crack and dry friction, and burn out the bearing.
