How to adjust the impeller clearance in a slurry pump with an open frame?
Adjusting the impeller clearance of a slurry pump is very important for its application. Improper adjustment can lead to unstable operation or friction with the wear plate, significantly shortening the service life of the slurry pump, resulting in losses for the user.
The clearance between the impeller and the front wear plate of the slurry pump should be 0.75 to 1.00 mm, which is generally adjusted before leaving the factory.If this clearance does not meet the requirements, adjustments should be made; if problems are found during operation, the machine should be stopped for adjustment.
The pump of the slurry pump with an open frame is adjusted as follows:
① Loosen the cover tightening nut of the frame;
② Loosen the adjustment screws of the bearing box;
③ Evenly tighten the bearing box tightening nut to move the rotor assembly towards the pump head, tightening while rotating until it cannot be turned anymore. Note that the direction of rotation should follow the working direction of the pump.
④ Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance δ = a between the flange of the bearing box and the end face of the frame; at this time, the clearance between the impeller and the front wear plate is 0.
⑤ Loosen the bearing box tightening nut;
⑥ Evenly tighten the adjustment screws of the bearing box to move the rotor assembly towards the motor direction, using a feeler gauge to check the clearance δ until δ = a + (0.75 to 1.00) mm (take the larger value for large pumps), ensuring the clearance is uniform and consistent;
⑦ Tighten the bearing box tightening nut to completely fix the axial position of the rotor.
