Start-up Operation and Monitoring of Slurry Pumps

1. Before starting the pump, ensure the slurry pump is filled with fresh water in the pool. Open the pump's inlet valve and close the outlet valve.

2. Start the pump and gradually open the outlet valve.

3. Simultaneously release the required amount of slurry into the pool.

4. Adjust the opening of the pump's outlet valve to a size and speed where the pump and motor operate without exceeding the rated current, ensuring the pump can maintain stability at a position 0.5-1 meter above the intake pipe.

5. Regularly inspect and adjust the packing gland or promptly replace the packing when running.

6. Monitor the operation of the bearings, ensuring no entry of debris. If debris enters the bearing, immediately stop for cleaning and oil change.

7. The bearing temperature should not exceed 75℃.

8. If the bearing is hot upon starting, stop the pump, allow the bearing to cool, and restart. If the bearing remains excessively hot, immediate action is necessary.

9. Timely adjust the ore amount, replenish water, or regulate the pump outlet valve to prevent the pump from running dry, which could cause vibration.

10. Avoid any large, lumpy materials from entering the pump to prevent blockages or damage to the pump lining.

11. Regularly check and refill the pump's oil level in a timely manner.

12. Check the water seal's water pressure, ensuring it's unobstructed, has adequate quantity, and maintains clean water quality.

13. Inspect the lubricating oil level of each component, ensuring normal oil temperature below 50 degrees and clear, proper lubrication.

14. Observe the motor's working current for abnormalities, ensuring no unusual rattling noises.

Efficient and meticulous start-up procedures, along with consistent monitoring, are essential to maintain the smooth and efficient operation of slurry pumps, contributing to their prolonged lifespan and optimal functionality.
