Submersible Pump Maintenance Knowledge

As long as it is a machine, damage will inevitably occur. When encountering this kind of problem, if you can repair it yourself, you can save yourself a lot of trouble. Here’s what you need to know about sump pump maintenance.

Basics of maintenance

When studying knowledge about submersible pump maintenance, we must lay a solid foundation. The basis of submersible pump repair is to disassemble the pump. How to disassemble the pump? First, we need to remove the pump from the storage tank from top to bottom. Next, we need to remove the motor and the base. Then, we will see the lower pump housing. In the same way, just remove it. Finally, and at the most critical step, we need to remove the lower bushing and impeller. The impeller is the core component of the submersible pump, so be gentle when disassembling it. Furthermore, there will be six hexagonal bolts on the bearing seat. Loosen the bolts one by one and pull out the regular pump shaft and bearing components. The foundation is often the top priority and everyone must master it.

Replace bearings and pump shaft

If there is a problem with the bearings and pump shaft of the concentrated sulfuric acid pump and they need to be replaced, it is recommended that you first remove the round nut on the upper end of the pump shaft. There is a coupling next to the round nut, it is recommended to remove it together. After completing this step, we will loosen the screws of the upper and lower bearing caps. There are a total of twelve screws on the upper and lower bearing caps. Finally, just drive the bearing seat upwards.

Reassemble

After the above operations are successfully completed, we need to reassemble the submersible pump. First, the bearings should be installed on the upper part of the pump shaft. After the installation is completed, we need to seal the upper bearing cap and lower bearing cap, and at the same time tighten the nuts. Second, it is recommended that you correct the curvature of the pump shaft to see if the curvature of the pump shaft is normal. Third, insert the pump bearing seat into the pump body. Pay attention to the direction during this process and be sure to insert downward. Fourth, find the lower sleeve of the impeller and the impeller cap, and glue them together to the pump shaft. Then you can start the sump pump and see if the repair is successful.
